Share the Care - Equal Parental Leave Pay and Rights for All Parents

Share the Care is Queensland Union’s campaign for equal paid parental leave and rights for all parents in the public sector.

After years of union campaigning, almost half of all Australian employees have access to some form of paid parental leave entitlement.

Despite progress, disparities continue to exist between the amount of paid parental leave available to working mums compared to working dads and partners.

It’s time we Share the Care, and introduce legislation of 18 weeks universal paid leave for all Queensland public sector workers.

Equal paid parental leave and rights recognises all parents need valuable time to care for their newborn, benefiting parents, grandparents, young children, employers, and the broader community.

Share the Care is the right step forward so all employees have better opportunities to help shape their children’s early years.

Queensland Unions acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands on which we live and work – in Meanjin (Brisbane) the lands of the Turrbal and Jagera Peoples – and pays respects to elders past and present.
